Thomas Michael Harrison Sr.

Thomas Michael Harrison Sr. “Big Mike”, 62, of Scranton, passed away Sunday afternoon at home surrounded by his family after losing a courageous battle with cancer. He is the husband of Giovanna Mary Harrison (Celauro). The couple was married 43 years.

Born in Wichita, Kansas, on McConnell Air Force Base, and grew up in Jersey City, NJ. He was the son of the late John R. Harrison Sr. and Patricia Ann Harrison (Short). He worked for many years as an auto mechanic at Hy-Way Auto. Lately he spent his time building pools at Minella Pools. He was a man of many trades and had a various set of skills. He would jump at any opportunity to teach his sons what he knew, especially mechanic work with his son Pat.

Big Mike loved music and dancing. If there was a dance floor, that’s where you’d find him. He loved playing the harmonica and any other instrument he could get his hands on. 

Surviving are four sons Thomas Harrison Jr., Scranton, Robert Harrison, Scranton, Christopher Harrison, San Diego, CA, Patrick Harrison, East Stroudsburg; two sisters Katherine Harrison, Scranton, Patricia Bradley, Whitesville, NC; three brothers Donald Harrison, Port Charlotte, FL, John Harrison, NC, Butchie Harrison, Scranton; two beautiful granddaughters Persephonie Nyx Harrison, Elleanna Rose Harrison; many nieces and nephews; and a host of many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Tina Marie Harrison and a sister Lori Ann Harrison.

A Visitation will be held Saturday 2/3 from 11-11:45am followed by a Memorial Service at 12 noon in the Corey Brian Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch Street, Scranton, PA 18505.
