Stanley Anthony Miesko, 81, a longtime resident of Scranton died early Friday morning at the inpatient unit of Hospice of the Scared Heart, Dunmore. He and his wife, Anne Marilyn Lynott Miesko, were married for 46 years.
Born in Throop, son of the late Anthony and Mary Berezny Miesko, he was a graduate of Throop High School and attended the University of Scranton. He was an inspector for General Dynamics and a member of St. John Neumann Parish. He served with the United States Army and was a member of the Kosciuszko American Legion Post 207, West Scranton.
Also surviving are a daughter, Michelle Miesko, Yorktown, Va.; a son, Martin Miesko and wife, Cynthia, Spring Brook Twp.; sisters, Frances Dretar and Florence Chruschiel; a granddaughter, Marina Miesko; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by sisters, Mary Solywoda and Genevieve Doyle; brothers, Joseph and Frank Miesko; and an infant brother, Anthony Miesko.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in St. John Nuemann Parish, Nativity Church, 633 Orchard St., Scranton. Friends are asked to go directly to church the morning of the services. Entombment to follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
A viewing will be held Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Corey Brian Strauch Services LLC, funeral home location, 602 Birch St., Scranton. American Legion Post 207 will hold a service in the funeral home Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart or St. Joseph’s Center.
