Shirley Mae Verrastro

Shirley Mae Verrastro, 87, of Dunmore, passed away peacefully at home on November 8th. She was married to the late Joseph E. Verrastro Jr. for 35 happy years.

Born in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Jessie Tyler Kimble. She was a 1955 graduate of Dunmore High School and was a long time member of The Church of the Good Shepherd, Scranton.

Shirley chose to spend her time being the Best Mom in the whole wide world, and she excelled at it. She loved taking care of family and friends, always keeping everyone happy and well-fed with her delicious cooking and baking. She was a wonderful hostess and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Kenyon and husband Robert of Ransom Twp.; a brother, David Kimble and wife Nancy of Old Forge; grandchildren Amber Sabatell and Nicholas DeAntonio; several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Charles Plauga, brothers Ronald and Harold Kimble and infant granddaughter Jessica.

A viewing will be held on Friday, November 15th from 5-8 pm at Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch St., Scranton, PA 18505. 

The funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 16th at Church of The Good Shepherd, 1780 N. Washington Ave., Scranton, PA 18509. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
