On Sunday, April 3rd, 2022, Regina G. Orzell, loving mother and grandmother, peacefully passed away at the age of 92 at Allied Services Scranton Hospice.
Regina was born on January 3, 1930 to John and Julia (Wegrzyn) Sek. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School class of 1946. She worked in the insurance industry and banking for over 40 years prior to her retirement.
Regina was a lifelong member of St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral in Scranton, PA. Regina had a passion for gardening, reading and bargain hunting throughout her life. She spent many hours working the earth in her garden, and oftentimes would stop and take plant cuttings from various places she visited so that she could replant them in her garden. Regina was an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction, with her favorite being biographies and autobiographies about old Hollywood movie stars and European royalty. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling in the United States and in Europe — especially Poland, her parents’ homeland, which she visited several times.
Regina was preceded in death by her father, John and her mother, Julia; her brother, John Senk; and her beloved son, Laurence. She is survived by her daughter, Julie, Scranton, PA; her two granddaughters, Regina Petrunich, Scranton, PA and Juliana (Jules) Petrunich and Thomas O’Malley, Dedham, MA; niece, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews and three grandcats.
A private funeral service will be conducted at Strauch Funeral Home in Scranton. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Regina’s memory to Polish National Catholic Church – National Church Center General Fund, 1006 Pittston Avenue, Scranton, PA or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
