Patrick Vincent Hessmiller, 50, of Dunmore, died Wednesday evening at home. He and his wife Amy Hoffman Hessmiller were married 16 years.
Born in Scranton son of the late Frank and Margaret Busteed Hessmiller he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. He served with the United States Navy after High School and was a Direct Care Provider with Keystone Community Resources, caring for adult mentally challenged men.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter Dawn Marie Hessmiller, Scranton; sisters Joanne Hessmiller and her husband Dave Trego, Fayetteville, NC, Therese Chamberlin and husband Don, Factoryville; brothers Joe and his wife Eileen, Bethlehem, Thomas and his wife Patty, Charleston, SC, his twin brother Michael and his wife Bonnie, Scranton, several nieces and nephews and his best friend of 45 years, John Kern, Scranton.
He was preceded in death by his brother Richard in 2010.
Pat had a huge heart filled with compassion and kindness, he had the gift of gab and would sit and chat about anything and everything. His big personality and sense of humor could make anyone laugh. Pat was a provider for his family, friends and his fur babies and was there for anyone who needed help. He was an avid Steelers, Yankees and Penn State fan and he also enjoyed fishing, golfing and general spending time with family and friends.
The funeral service will be Monday at 7:00pm in the Corey Brian Strauch Services, funeral home location, 602 Birch Street, Scranton, PA 18505. Services by Mother Rebecca A. Barns, pastor of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Scranton.
Viewings will be held Monday from 4-6:45pm in the funeral home.
