Norman James “Jimmy” Klas, 80 of Scranton, died Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife, Alice Wojewodski Klas, died March 13, 2005.


Born in Montrose, son of the late Norman and Beatrice Rosenkrance Klas, he was a 1963 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. He served in the United States Army and National Guard in the Medical Unit. He worked in the Sauquoit Silk Mill, Thompson Electronics and the University of Scranton in the maintenance department. He and his wife were active members of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Church, Scranton and they founded the local Lupus Foundation.


Surviving are a sisters in law Marilyn Howells and Jane Howells; his foster sister Sherri Renda; four nephews and a grand daughter.


He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard and William Howells.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 am in St. Tersea of Calcutta Parish, Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary Church, 1217 Prospect Ave., Scranton, PA 18505. Interment to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Scranton.


Memorial contributions may be made the the American Legion Post 568, 2929 Birney Ave., Scranton, PA 18505
