Judith Ann Merkel

Judith Ann Merkel, 81, a life long resident of Scranton, passed away Wednesday morning at home.

Born in Scranton , she was the daughter of Alberta Merkel. She was a graduate of West Scranton High School. Prior o her retirement she was a Claims Agent for the State Workers Insurance Company. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Scranton; which she would attend faithfully prior to her health declining.

Surviving are her daughter Jaime Sofka and partner Richard Sibio, a sister Theresa Perrotti, Scranton, two brothers Paul Merkel and wife Lori, Scranton, William Simone, Missouri; grandchildren Michael Sofka, Gabriella Sibo; a great grandson Carson Pelchar and many nieces and nephews.

A mass of christian burial will be held Saturday, September 7th at 10am in St. Patrick's Church, 1403 Jackson Street, Scranton, PA 18504. Interment will be private.
