Janice Mary Gastinger, 68, of Dickson City, died Thursday at home.
Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Robert and Madlyn Dowdell Gastinger, she was a graduate of Central High School and Marywood College. She was an administrative assistant with the Scranton School District for many years. She was a member of the former St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Scranton.
Surviving are a sister, Tina Shimo and husband, James, Dickson City; brothers, Robert Gastinger and wife, Kathy, Avondale; and Michael Gastinger and wife, Daria, Jermyn; a sister-in-law, Ann Marie Gastinger, Bethlehem; nieces and nephews, Genie, Matthew, William, Molly, Amy, Jessica, Caron and Mary; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Gastinger.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in Janice M. Gastinger’s name be made to either one of two organizations, the American Lung Association and American Diabetes Association.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. John Neumann Parish, Nativity Church, 633 Orchard St., Scranton. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Corey Brian Strauch Services LLC funeral home, 602 Birch St., Scranton.
