Helen Ida Clabough

Helen Ida Clabough, 88, a life long resident of Scranton, died Wednesday evening at home with her family by her side. She is the widow of the late Kenneth L. Clabough, who died February 20, 2010. The couple was married 49 years.

Born is Scranton daughter of the late Walter and Edith Dolphin Hoffman, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She was a life long member of St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church, was Church Secretary for 32, was active in the choir and was in various other church committees and programs. She enjoyed spending time with her family and baking for them. She would grow and rehab house plants and had an indoor garden. She loved to play scrabble and word games with her grand children and was a fan of Penn State Football.

Surviving are daughters Karen Rencavage, Covington Twp., Kathy Paranich, Mt. Top; a sister Shirley H. Frantz, Madisonville; grandchildren Michael and Christopher Rencavage, Nicole, Ashley and Michael Paranich.

She was preceded in death by a brother Walter A. Hoffman.

Relatives and friends may call from 9 to 11:45 AM in the St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1000 Taylor Ave., Scranton, PA 18510. The funeral will be Monday at 12 PM in the church with the Rev. David Searing officiating. Interment to follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
