Helen G. Volz, 93, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Tuesday at home. She is the widow of the late Frederick G. Volz who died April 3, 2010. The couple were married 66 years.
Born in Scranton the daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth Lenzer Fey she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for Kane’s Dress Shop. Helen was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Scranton and a proud member of the Waldorf Park Social Club.
Surviving are two daughter Elis Wetzel and husband Donald, Clarks Summit, Christine Martin and husband Dr. Richard Martin, Clarks Summit; a son Frederick M. and wife Mary, Scranton; a sister Phyllis Tannler, Scranton; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters Amelia Latcham, Elsie George, Ruth Shiffer, Louise Mammel and two brothers Frederick and Carl Fey.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 am in Trinity United Church of Christ, corner of Beech Street and Prospect Ave, Scranton PA 18505, with the Rev. Harrison Putnam to officiate. Interment to follow in Dunmore Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the time of services in the church.
