Gerald (Jerry) Ouslander, son of the late Rose Ouslander, died unexpectedly Friday evening in Regional Hospital of Scranton.
A lifetime resident of Scranton, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School Class of 1954 where he was voted Class Clown.
After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force. While serving, he was stationed in Greenland, Wyoming and Florida. He moonlighted as a dance instructor for the Arthur Murray School of Dance while in Florida.
He worked at the Tobyhanna Army Depot over 30 years until he retired in 2006, at the age of 70.
Jerry enjoyed dancing, Broadway plays in New York City, and cooking. He was an avid Penn State fan.
Surviving is a sister Ruth Shevlin, Scranton; nieces Sherri Renda and Pat Ouslander, Scranton; Ann Marie Martin and husband Randy, Virginia; nephews Nicholas Caprio and wife Diane, Scranton; Thomas Truskolaski and wife Lara, Virginia; Arthur Ouslander and wife Mary Ellen, MD and a great nephew Marc Renda and his wife Lovena, Roaring Brook Twp.
He was preceded in death by sisters Esther Uttrodt, Myra Truskolaski, Dorothy and Alberta Ouslander, brothers Edward and Arthur Ouslander.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday (11-14-16) at 2:00 PM in the Immaculate Conception Church, 801 Taylor Ave., Scranton, PA 18510. Cremation took place in the Strauch Crematory and Cremation Center, Gouldsboro, PA. Interment will be private.
