Eugene “Gene” Charles Boyd, 79, of North Scranton, died Wednesday morning at home. He and his wife, Donna Durkin Boyd, were married 50 years.
Born in Scranton, son of the late George and Mary McAndrew Boyd, he was a 1961 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. After school Gene served in the United States Army.
Surviving are two sons, George and fiancée, Maureen Gelb; and Michael and wife, Kathleen Boyd (Gleason). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Gene was predeceased in death by sisters, Mae (Francis) Stevens and Jane (Michael G.) Kavulich; brothers, Robert (Agnes), George (Ann), Charles (Marion) and Ronald; as well as nieces, Peggy Boyd, Maury Kavulich; nephew, Michael G. Kavulich; and great-nephew, Justin Kavulich.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Geisinger Community Medical Center, as well as the staff of Allied Hospice.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 15, at 10:30 a.m. in the. Corey Brian Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch St., Scranton, PA 18505. Interment will be private at a later date.
