Esther H. Keisling, 105 years old, a resident of Elan Gardens in Clarks Summit died Saturday evening surrounded by her family.

Born July 24, 1910 in Scranton, she was the daughter of William and Louisa (Huss) Keisling. She was a pioneering business woman working at the Erie Lackawanna Railroad and predecessor companies beginning as a secretary and retiring as an accountant after 45 years of service. She loved adventure and agreed to transfer to Ohio with the railroad at the age of 51. After the railroad she continued to work and volunteer daily until she was 90 years old. Esther gave up her home and moved to Elan Gardens at the age of 96 to be closer to family.

Before leaving for Ohio Esther was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Scranton, where she served as Scout Leader for Girl Scout Troop #47 for many years. In Ohio she was active in the Bay Presbyterian Church. Upon her return to the area, she was a member of Parker Hill Community Church, Dickson City Campus.

Esther was predeceased by her parents and 3 brothers (William Jr, Albert and Bernard) and 3 sisters (Louise Robbins Morgan, Mildred Armstrong and Lila Miller) of Scranton. She was an inspiration to her 11 nieces and nephews (Robert Robbins, Sanford Robbins, Joan Thorpe, George Armstrong, Judith Armstrong, William Keisling Jr, Betty Lou Pendrak, Paul Keisling, Bernard Keisling, Robert Keisling and Janet Williams) and 80+ great and great-great nieces and nephews. She was a role model and constant loving presence with high expectations for her family to succeed.

The Funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00am in the Corey Brian Strauch Services, LLC, funeral home location, 602 Birch Street, Scranton, PA 18505. to be officiated by Mark Stuenzi, pastor of Parker Hill Community Church. Interment to follow in Abington Hills Cemetery, Clarks Summit.

Friends and family may call Wednesday from 9-10:45am in the funeral home.
