Elizabeth “Betty” Bochicchio passed away peacefully on Dec. 1, 2023.
Born on Sept. 1, 1926 in Scranton to the late Patrick and Gertrude Schaefer Nolan, Betty grew up in South Side where she formed many lifelong friendships. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and an energetic member of every reunion committee! Prior to her retirement, Betty was employed by Capitol Records. There she met her lifelong friends and traveling companions, the late Ann McCarthy and Ann Marie Wagner. They travelled locally and also to many parts of the world. Laughter always surrounded them. Friends made while Betty was a resident at Geneva House also added much joy to her life.
She enjoyed gathering with and serving the community through her participation in St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Dunmore Women’s Club, the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and the Scranton Century Club.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving and devoted daughter, Patricia Rambo; son, James Dunnigan; her husband and best friend, Ralph Bochicchi; her loving brother, Dr. Gerald Nolan and his wife Maureen.
Betty is survived by her son-in-law, Harry Rambo,; her daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Gilio; her grandson, Patrick Dunnigan and wife Linda; her nephew, Chick and wife Kathy Harle; and other nieces, nephews and friends.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Corey Brian Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch St., Scranton, Pa. 18505. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. A visitation will be held Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
Donations in Betty’s name may be made to St. Joseph’s Center, Scranton or St Jude Hospital.
