Charles Romanic, 92, of Scranton, died Sunday morning, February 25, 2018, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, after a brief illness. His wife, Mary Panco Romanic, died in 2003.
Born in Hazleton, son of the late Mark and Eva Besida Romanic, Charles was a graduate of Hazleton High School. He then joined the United States Army Air Corps, where he served as a tail gunner during World War II. A resident of South Scranton for more than 50 years, he lived at Gardens of Green Ridge Assisted Living since 2014. He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Tobyhanna Army Depot until his retirement in 1987.
Surviving are a daughter, Charlotte Wood and her husband, Scott, Sun City Center, Fla.
Services will be private. Arrangements by Corey Brian Strauch Services LLC, 602 Birch St., Scranton.
