Carol Ann Upton

Carol Upton passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2023. She was the third of four daughters born to Joseph and Mary Volpe in Long Island, New York.

She is survived by her sister, Patricia; her 3 children, Philip, Janice, and Peter; and an extended family that includes 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; as well as beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was cherished by all who knew her.

Carol was a warm and generous soul who spent a lifetime opening her heart and her home to family, friends, and animals in need of comfort and care. She loved playing games, laughing, listening to Dean Martin, cooking Sunday dinners, and most of all spending time with her family.

Carol had a deep and abiding love for animals, and spent a great deal of her life observing and caring for various creatures. She spent several decades living in rural Pennsylvania, where she delighted in an endless parade of wildlife, including families of deer which she called individually by name, which came to her property frequently, knowing they would find sustenance from the food she left for them almost daily.

She found her greatest contentment in the love and company of her family, and took particular delight spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Though she will be missed by her family and friends, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Corey Brian Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch Street, Scranton, PA 18505.
